Where Campus Gathers

The University Center project at UT Arlington is a comprehensive renovation and major addition to the campus student union. The project is being delivered through a design-build process and is carefully phased so the Union can remain operational while new spaces are introduced and existing facilities are modernized.

UTA serves a highly diverse student population with many commuting and first generation students. The design responds to these student patterns by creating welcoming social spaces that support gathering, study, and student organization activity throughout the day. The building also responds to Texas climate conditions through shaded outdoor environments and material strategies that reduce heat gain. The main gathering space features a CLT acoustic wood deck that brings warmth, daylight diffusion, and material richness to the heart of the building
