florida state University
The new Oglesby Union will replace a building that has been an important but outdated social hub for Florida State University for decades. Demolition will start after graduation in May of 2018. Fondly referred to as a “Union with Gravitas,” the new Oglesby Union will remain a campus hub and will enhance campus traditions that have long been a part of the FSU culture. Market Wednesdays, Oglesby Union’s weekly signature event, will be relocated to a new plaza at the front entrance. The famed Crenshaw Lanes and Club Downunder will be located in the lower recreation floor. A new student involvement center with a two-story porch will overlook Legacy Walk and its hundred-year-old live oaks, with the campus landmark Integration Statue visible in the distance. Visitors will enjoy a new coffee shop and a variety of dining venues, including an FSU-branded bar and grille. There will also be ample lounge and meeting space, including a ballroom that will accommodate up to 900 people. The 271,000 square foot building will be LEED-certified.
