Student Union Master Plan
EMPORIA STATE UNIVERSITY

Emporia State University’s student center stands between a lake, a football field, and two aging residence halls, but lacks the ability to effectively connect those elements. The vision for the new student center bridges across campus, linking all Student Life areas into a cohesive narrative. The design presents a defining building for the University and surrounding community. To one side, the center highlights views of the lake, while to the other, it provides box seat views of the stadium. Located in the gently rolling Flint Hills, the design for the new student center incorporates softly curving pathways and large scale arcs that embed the structure into the landscape and honor the beauty of its surroundings
