The design for the Connor University Center weaves together an existing facility to enhance student interaction and create a robust auxiliary environment. Similar to many union facilities that have developed over time, the Connor Center was confusing for students and very costly to operate. Workshop Architects design removed dysfunctional portions of the existing facility and added new gathering spaces with the goal of creating a unified environment with a strong sense of place and greatly enhanced opportunities for student engagement.
"I am impressed with the efforts and methods Workshop employed during the early project planning stages in order to help create the vision. Workshop Architects accomplished this by working extensively with all stakeholders at Whitewater, particularly with our student population. Jan and his staff were extremely sensitive to our desire to involve students in this process. They were also creative in helping us invent ways to keep them involved."
Bob Barry, Executive Director, James R. Connor University Center
