Duke University commissioned Workshop Architects, together with Brailsford and Dunlavey,to develop a campus population study model to assist the Board of Trustees in their understanding of the potential impact of a planned redevelopment of Duke's Central Campus. In particular, the Trustee's desired an analysis of how the project might affect student migration patterns and campus vitality.
Workshop developed a computer simulation model to visually represent complex data in a 3D animation using form, light and color. The campus population model was instrumental in the University's ability to comprehend the potential outcome of a large and complex campus initiative.
